American University Preparatory School

International Applicants

Our goal is to prepare students to become scholars and global leaders. Our mission to help students understand and respect the similarities and differences among themselves and others in their local and world communities requires a healthy mix of domestic and international students. Thus, international students are encouraged to apply for admission by following the application process.

International applicants are defined as those whose primary residence is overseas. U.S. citizens employed overseas are not considered international if they file U.S. tax returns. All international applicants must apply as boarding students, regardless of whether the parents decide to move to Los Angeles.

International Applicants whose first language is not English must also submit English proficiency exams. We accept iTEP for 9th and 10th grade applicants, or TOEFL scores for 11th and 12th grade applicants. Our institution code is 5733 for TOEFL iBT.

All international students are also required to take the SSAT (www.ssat.org) and submit scores directly from your account. Our school code is 1242.

The following only applies to students applying for 10th, 11th, or 12th grade.

As a preparatory school, our goal is to ensure that students are prepared for entry to colleges and universities in the United States. An important component of the college application is an authenticated transcript. Thus, all international applicants who wish to transfer to AUP must submit equivalency reports from one of the following services.
